Future Teachers Programme
What is the Future Teachers Programme?
The Future Teachers Programme is designed to help Catholic Diocesan Schools address the challenges in finding talented teachers for their schools. We achieve this by attracting bright graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in initial teacher training (ITT).
How does it work?
Being a national company, Teaching Personnel attracts graduates from all over England & Wales as well as those from overseas. We select, interview, vet and recruit those who are interested in a career in teaching before matching them with Catholic Schools for paid work experience. Making use of such candidates in your school not only provides you with high calibre support options for a variety of support roles but allows you to assess their potential as a future teacher for your school.
Immediate benefits
- Help raise attainment through one-to-one and small group interventions
- Support students with special educational needs
- Offer ‘in class’ subject specialist support
- Assist with planning and preparation
- Deliver cover supervision

What does it cost?
Given the variety of roles and activities the graduate will undertake, these placement costs can be viewed in line with recruiting temporary Learning Support Staff or Cover Supervisors. Whilst this is an investment in future teachers for participating Catholic Schools, we do expect schools to see immediate value for money through having a bright graduate with a passion for education working at the school.
Where Future Teacher placements exceed at least one term in duration, there will be no agency fee payable should you decide to employ the graduate as a permanent member of staff.
Future benefits
Catholic Schools taking part in the programme have the opportunity to enrol graduates onto their own ITT programme or help signpost them to a partner ITT provision. In doing so, they can secure a highly motivated graduate who can be trained for success in a Catholic School environment and become a highly valuable future member of the teaching team. This method of recruiting high calibre graduates can be far more effective and efficient than the time, effort and expense of attending job fairs and other events.
These are the teachers of tomorrow!

Client Testimonial
We have worked in partnership with Teaching Personnel for a number of years. We provide high class CPD to Teaching Personnel colleagues.
As a result, we receive high calibre colleagues on supply and utilise their future teachers as graduate TAs to support teaching and learning, vulnerable pupils and cover.
This relationship allows us the flexibility to maintain the highest classroom standards and provide the best care to our students.

Client Testimonial
“We have been developing a Graduate TA programme for three year and have partnered with Teaching Personnel this year. We initially employed a Graduate TA in English and Maths using a part of the budget set aside for Agency Supply to deliver intervention lessons and cover for absences. We had some success but struggled to appoint the right calibre of graduate. Through our partnership with Teaching Personnel we have managed to appoint four gradudates this year to work in English and Maths. We are much happier with the graduates they sourced for us and they have spent the whole year with us. The cover they provide in their subject area gives better continuity for our students. As they are employed by the agency, we have more flexibility and could stop them should a long term absence occur which requires a teacher instead. Most of the TAs have gone on to teach and one has been employed by us.”
